SHIRL TYNER holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Graduate Certificate in Forensics and Crime Scene Investigations. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Forensic Science, reflecting her commitment to lifelong learning and expertise in her field. A graduate of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Leadership Institute, Shirl also teaches Criminal Justice and Forensic courses at both the high school and college levels. Shirl worked at Lexipol as a Management Services Representative, bringing 25 years of experience as a civilian (non-sworn) employee in law enforcement. She served with the Oceanside (CA) Police Department and the Tustin (CA) Police Department in roles including front desk officer, field officer, report writer, field evidence technician, crime scene investigator, and fraud investigator. In many of these positions, Shirl held supervisory roles and served as a field training officer for 20 years. In addition to her law enforcement career, Shirl has experience as a Trauma Intervention Volunteer and has been deeply involved in peer support, with a focus on addressing PTSD.
